写真の原点/ORIGIN OF PHOTO/ORIGIN DE LA PHOTOGRAPHIE:
針穴（ピンホール）写真は、ハイテクの世界では完璧に異端者となってしまいましたが、微小の穴はもっとも古い光学であり、ルネッサンス期の科学者たちが現代のカメラの祖先である『カメラ・オブスキュラ』（暗箱）を発明する案内役となりました。

In the high-tech world pinhole photography becomes perfectly an outsider, but a tiny hole is the oldest optics which led the Renaissance scientists to invent "Camera Obscura", ancestor of our modern cameras.

Dans le monde de la haute technologie le sténopé devient parfaitement un "outsider" mais un petit trou est l'optique la plus ancienne qui a mené les scientifiques de la Renaissance à inventer la "Chambre Obscure", l'ancêtre de l'appareil photo moderne.

ピンホールカメラは、光を取り込むために微小の穴を開けたシンプルな入れ物（箱、缶など）と、画像を定着するための感光材料（フィルム、印画紙など）で作ることができます。写真を撮るのに電子装置もレンズも必要ありません。

Pinhole camera can be made with a simple container (box, can, etc) pierced with a tiny hole to introduce the light and a piece of photographic material (film,paper, etc.) to fix an image. No electronic device nor lens is needed to take a picture.

L'appareil au sténopé peut être fabriqué à partir d'un récipient (boîte en carton, boîte de thé, etc.) percé d'un trou minuscule pour attraper de la lumière et un morceau de matière photosensible (pellicule, papier photo, etc.) pour fixer une image. Aucun dispositif électronique ni lentille est nécessaire pour prendre une photo.

たいていの場合、百分の1インチ、あるいは１ミリの何分の１という大きさの極小の穴のため、露出には非常に長い時間を要します。ISO400のフィルムを使用しても、露出時間は太陽光のもとで、数秒以上かかります。

Because of the tininess of a hole, a hundredth of inch or a few tenth of millimeter in general, very long time is required for an exposure. Even if you use film of ISO400 the exposure time may be beyond a few seconds at the place in the sun.

A cause de la petitesse du trou, grosso-modo quelques dixième d'un millimètre, un temps de pose très long est nécessaire pour une photo. Même si vous utilisez la pellicule de 400ISO, le temps de pose dépasserait quelques secondes en plein soleil.

This pared down structure of pinhole camera allows you DIY and customization: the material, size and form of the container (recycled materials will serve well, too), number of pinholes to pierce, angle of view, size of photographic material (you can cut it to fit into your camera), etc., are at your choice. Thanks to the flexibility of pinhole, you will be free from the standardization of photography, unless you spare the time and try and error attitude. It's up to you to imagine your camera and your pictures.

微妙に違う映像/ETHEREAL IMAGE/IMAGE SUPRANATURELLE：
長時間露光は特殊効果を生み出します。たとえば、雲は糸を引いたように、水面は鏡のようになり、通行人や走る車は消えてしまいます。小さな開口部からはまた、『無限遠の被写界深度（パンフォーカス）』が得られます。

Very long time exposure gives you special effects: clouds leave thread-like tails, water surface becomes a mirror, and passersby and moving cars will disappear. Small aperture also realizes "infinite depth of field".

Le temps de pose extrêmement long vous donne des effets spéciaux: les nuages filent, la surface de l'eau se transforme en miroir, les passants et les voitures qui roulent disparaissent. La petite ouverture réalise également la "profondeur de champs infinie".

絵画的な効果/PICTORIAL EFFECT/EFFET PICTURAL：
タルボットが自分の最初の写真を『自然の鉛筆』と命名したのに倣えば、レンズによる正確にピントが合った点の代わりに、円盤状の極小の光で形成されるピンホールの映像は、『自然の絵筆』と呼ぶのにふさわしいものです。

Following the example of Talbot, who named his first pictures "Pencil of Nature", pinhole images which are formed with tiny circles of light instead of points precisely focused by lens are apt to be called "Brush of Nature".

Suivant l'example de Talbot, qui a nommé sa première photographie "Pencil of Nature (le crayon de la nature)", l'image du sténopé, qui est formée de petits disques de la lumière et non pas de points précis qui sont réalisés par la lentille, conviendrait à être appelée "Brush of Nature (le pinceau de la nature)".
